A couple of screenshots from Radiohead’s performance of Anyone Can Play Guitar at the MTV Beach House on July 4, 1993.

Ed’s Marshall Guv'nor can be seen clearly at the center of his pedalboard, next to his BOSS TU-12 tuner. The MIDI foot-controller on the pedalboard is a Korg FC6, which Ed used to change presets on his Korg A2. The second MIDI foot-controller – the one floating next to Ed’s pedalboard – is probably a Yamaha MPC06, which Ed used to switch presets on his Yamaha FX500. The FX500 itself can be seen on top of the flight case beside Ed’s amp. It looks like the Korg A2 might not have been set up for this performance, which makes sense as only songs from Pablo Honey were performed (Ed had the FX500 before Pablo was recorded, but got the A2 after it was finished).

Ed talked about the Marshall Guv’nor, Yamaha FX500, Korg A2, and more of Radiohead’s early gear in his recent interview with That Pedal Show.

The amp is a Mesa Boogie head running into Mesa Boogie 4x12 Slant cabinet. Ed used this setup for Radiohead’s June/July 1993 North America tour, so the amp can also be seen in footage from Radiohead’s performance at the Chicago Metro on June 30, 1993. Ed started using Mesa Boogie Trem-O-Verbs by later that year. The band seems to have been briefly fond of Mesa Boogies during 1993. Jonny used a Mesa Boogie Studio .22 (or maybe a Mark2B) for the Beach House performance, and later that year Jonny and Thom both used Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Maverick 1x12s.
