The Lace Sensors of the V1 are either a humbucker (bridge) or designed to sound like a humbucker (neck), whereas the Lace Sensor Golds of the V2 are designed to sound like standard Telecaster pickups. Additionally, the middle pickup of the V2 allows for different further tonal options than the coil split of the V1.
They sound about as different as a standard Tele compared to a Les Paul, with the former being close to the V2 and the latter being close to the V1. As electric guitars go, they sound quite different.
If you want something closer to the sound of the V1 with the look of the V2, you could buy the individual Blue and Red Lace Sensors and put them into the body of a standard Telecaster. You’d lose the full humbucker character of the V1′s bridge, but you’d be pretty close and the neck would sound exactly the same.
