Stupid question but, DOD 400 settings for Just and My Iron Lung? (Borh during the outro) I can’t figure it out. Thanks.

Jonny did not use a DOD 440 Envelope Filter for either of those songs. In fact, he didn’t start using a DOD 440 until around September 1995, when the band recorded Lucky. That’s about a year after they recording for The Bendswrapped up in November 1994.

In addition, be aware that the 2014 reissue of the DOD 440 is very different from the 1990s version. Both are green, but you can tell you have the newer version if the pedal has an indicator LED and an up/down switch. The 2014 reissue is based on the DOD FX25 circuit, rather than the earlier DOD 440. That might be the reason the knobs on the reissue are backwards, but regardless it means that any knobs settings on one version of the pedal are useless on the other. For those curious, the green 90s version is itself a reissue, as DOD originally sold the 440 in the late-70s and early-80s. However, the 70s, 80s, and 90s pedals all share a near-identical circuit, all using a vactrol to control a twin-T filter, so they produce similar sounds. In contrast, the 2014 version uses an OTA-based design.

Also worth noting that even if you do have a 90s DOD 440, Jonny’s settings still won’t necessarily work for you. The pedal responds to the amplitude of your playing, so you’ll need to turn up the sensitivity if your guitar is quieter than Jonny’s, or turn down the sensitivity if your guitar is louder than Jonny’s.
